Cloud replication of local backups as a secondary repository
Upload the backups stored on your IDrive BMR device to your IDrive cloud account and maintain a secondary cloud repository. The Cloud Replication tab allows you to schedule the transfers from your IDrive BMR device to the cloud storage, perform immediate transfers, and monitor the cloud replication status.
IDrive BMR encrypts your data during transfer to the IDrive cloud account and when your cloud data is at rest.
Transfer local backups to IDrive cloud account
You can initiate an immediate cloud transfer or schedule replication for specific days.
To initiate an immediate transfer,
- Connect to the IDrive BMR device interface.
- Go to Cloud Replication.
- Navigate to Computers/VMware servers to view the local backups available in respective tabs.
- Click Transfer Now corresponding to a computer/VMware server to perform immediate cloud transfer.
Click View details to track the progress.
To schedule a transfer,
- Connect to the IDrive BMR device interface.
- Go to Cloud Replication.
- Navigate to Computers/VMware servers to view the local backups available in respective tabs.
- Click Schedule Replication.
The Schedule cloud replication slider will open for Computers/VMware servers. - Select the required computer(s)/VMware server(s), schedule the cloud replication, and enable soft/hard replication end time if required.
Note: Hard cut-off will terminate cloud replication at the specified end time. The soft cut-off will terminate cloud replication after ongoing recovery point transfer.
- Click Save.
Set internet usage limit for cloud replication
The time required for cloud replication is dependent on various factors such as the size of the data being transferred, the network bandwidth, and any ongoing IDrive BMR operation. To set the Internet usage limit for cloud replication, click Bandwidth Throttle, set an internet usage limit for cloud replication, and click Save.
If you want to transfer bulk backups to the cloud faster, consider using Cloud Seeding.
View cloud replication status
Status of the ongoing cloud replication
To view the status of your cloud replication tasks, click Replication Status.
Information such as computer/VM name, last replication status, size of the data transferred to the cloud, and the actual size of the data will be displayed on the screen.
Status of the latest cloud replication
Click Last Replication Log to view the status of your last cloud data transfer. The Last replication log slider appears displaying the status of the replication operation. The name of the computer/VM for which replication was performed, the recovery point, the size of the data transferred, and a summary of the transfer will be displayed.
